Avian Conservation Uganda (ACUG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the research, conservation, and protection of Uganda’s birdlife and their natural habitats. We work to safeguard endangered species, restore ecosystems, and promote sustainable coexistence between birds and communities.

Run for Birds is an annual conservation run organized by Avian Conservation Uganda (ACUG) to raise awareness and support for the protection of Uganda’s diverse birdlife.
It brings together runners, nature lovers, and conservation partners to promote environmental stewardship under the theme “Every Step Saves a Specie.”
Through this run, every participant becomes part of a national movement to protect habitats, inspire action, and give voice to the birds that color Uganda’s skies.
Since 1960s, the population of the Grey Crowned Crested Crane has declined by 80% from more than 100,000 to only about 13,500 birds only!
