Friends in conservation
Bethany Land Institute – in line with the Pope’s Laudato Si encyclical “on care for our common home” – are doing well to restore a natural forest in Bombo, Luwero district. We work collectively to encourage bird habitat restoration.
Making our first footprint
We opened an office in Ruhijja of the UNESCO world heritage site Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The park is home to an impressive 28 Albertine rift endemic bird species, some of which are endangered or vulnerable.
Our Supporters
Our strength is in numbers, one love for conservation is the dream. We dream of a world where everyone appreciated the aesthetic, cultural and natural benefits of birds and adopted a bird-friendly lifestyle. We are proud of all our members who share that dream and support our work.
Raising awareness of the need for bird conservation
In collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Kampala North, we are able to reach more people with whom we share a passion for conservation. We are intentional with making partnerships to enhance our raising awareness campaigns.
Welcoming a shoebill stork chick
A team from the Avian Conservation Uganda Society travelled to Mabamba swamp to follow up on a reported hatchling of the endangered shoebill stork. The excursion was successful as the team spotted the chick in good health.
