Who we are
Avian Conservation Uganda Society (ACUS) is a leading organization dedicated to the research, conservation, and protection of Uganda’s birdlife and their natural habitats. We work to safeguard endangered species, restore ecosystems, and promote sustainable coexistence between birds and communities.
Our approach integrates scientific research, environmental education, and community-driven conservation to ensure a thriving future for Uganda’s Bird biodiversity.

Our Goals & Objectives
- To be a meeting point for international and Ugandan birders to discover birds and other natural wonders of Uganda by working together as friends.
- To encourage members, especially younger people, mainly bird lovers, to learn about ornithology, identification and the conservation of our birds through monthly field excursions, outing meetings and the Uganda Bird Society magazine.• To work together with international and local partners and friends of conservation of birds and to be an advocate for the protection of birds and their habitats in Uganda.
- To record and study birds in Uganda, both directly in collaboration with other national conservation organizations with a common goal.
- To help promote nature conservation through the dissemination of information in the form of newsletters, books and social media together with our both foreign and Ugandan friends.

WHAT WE DO
we are committed to protecting Uganda’s rich birdlife and ensuring the conservation of their habitats. Our work focuses on;
- Bird Conservation: We conduct research and conservation projects to protect endangered and migratory bird species across Uganda.
- Habitat Protection: We work to restore and protect critical bird habitats, including wetlands, forests, and grasslands.
- Education & Awareness: We engage schools, communities, and policymakers to promote bird conservation and environmental stewardship.
- Community Involvement: We collaborate with local communities to develop sustainable conservation initiatives that provide economic benefits while preserving biodiversity.
- Research & Advocacy: We conduct scientific studies to understand bird populations, migration patterns, and threats, using our findings to influence conservation policies.
