A Gentle Jewel of the Wild
The Red-headed Lovebird (Agapornis pullarius) is a small, affectionate parrot with a striking red face and green body, quietly brightening Uganda’s woodlands. It belongs to the Psittaculidae family and is listed as Least Concern, with a stable population, though exact numbers are unknown. In Uganda, it favors open woodland, forest edges, and savanna with trees. It is non-migratory, moving only short distances, usually within local habitats in search of food and nesting sites. Gentle and social, it reminds us that even the smallest birds carry great beauty and meaning.
